'1 C ', IPO, PR, Cloud...

Especially since yesterday blog intercourse was. regular ' pulse '. All this has bearing on them to the clouds. More specifically to IT and to many of us.

In his journalistic work, I see a great contradiction of its own internal. On the one hand, I firmly believe that the commercial companies to learn how they do business (well, like advising MS: ' Why do not you lower the price to increase sales ') - it is useless and even just plain stupid. On the other hand, I am constantly expressing any comment and advice to climb.

In explanation of this contradiction, I can say that my ' comments ' do not mean to change the business (although, by the way... - if for PR- aspects, then we have ), and is a form of self- understanding of reality, an attempt to understand the inner workings of counterparties.
So that's about over with '1 '.

I am writing about this for many years and once again I say, I think that PR- activity of '1 C ' does not correspond to the position and role in our company's IT market.
And a serious PR- increasing trend of silence all the more strange to see a new phase of growth of its business and move toward IPO.

But at the same time talking about it, I have always emphasized: to give advice with '1 '' how to live '- this is from the category of ' academic learning '. Just even funny lesson. ( 'if you're so smart, why are you...?').

But that's just now I'm writing an article for PC Week for the year '1 C '( as reported by us on the Day of Accounting ). And one of the theses that there is already present: we see a slowdown in the growth of '1 C '.

And it's only natural: '1 C 'already ' developed ' their market niche. She had to develop new segments, which live on the other, not -native - 1s rules....
In short: each step will be given for it harder and harder....

And then PR issues becoming more relevant than it was some time ago.

I like a good saw, on the one hand, the decline in media interest in the affairs of '1 C '( I think it is a consequence of its PR), with another interest of the audience.

look.
An example from my publication on the ' Day of Accounting ... Within two working days an article came out in the Leaders Top Articles PC Week ( cm. http://www. pcweek. ru /). I've been following this indicator and I can say for sure: no one event does not go for that much in the leaders, and even more so in three days. If that test is simple enough, I think.

A few days ago, my colleague, Vladimir Mitin, wrote a post on the openness of the IT market (http://www. pcweek. ru/ecm/blog/vladimir-mitin/417. php). There's one phrase was mentioned '1 C ' (for example, with its reports about the project ), and this is a phrase immediately provoked debate on the next portion of '1 C'. Of which I personally see that the view of many in the IT market is not very consistent with the realities of.

However, I repeat: to teach '1 C ' as live - it's just ridiculous... But all the same growth rate it seems to have slowed down....

P. S. I wanted to and about the cloud -1C to write, but now - in the next record.

History: Beginning Google

Since dating in 1995 and until 1998 the first. Larry. and. Sergey. come up with different ideas that could be easier to find pages on the Internet, and endlessly experimenting. Larry became interested in the question how one link of significant others, and that can give their analysis. Research he conducted on his home page on the website of Stanford University. Taking as a basis for their search engine BackRub, Larry began to improve the search algorithm that can analyze how the World Wide Web sites link to each other. Soon, with Page's Brin overshadowed two brilliant ideas.
The first was based on an improved search engine, Larry, which he renamed PageRank, beaten in the title of the similarity in spelling and sound of his name and the words ... An updated search enabled in the first approximation to evaluate the significance of a site - served as a criterion for the number of links through which it can be accessed from other sites. The second idea is about how to automate the search engine and to avoid the influence of human factors in order to keep pace with the rapidly expanding network, and maintain objectivity Google. As a result, the basis for Google's search went to a simple principle: a person can affect the operation of the algorithm, and even change it, but no one can change the specific issue of a search. ( This situation persists to this day, but a new product Google - Search Wiki - provides the user the ability to decide which of the results found for him personally more relevant than others - in short, to adapt to display search results to fit your needs. ).

The successful development of more effective and convenient system of search and display the results summarized by Larry and Sergey to two new problems, not less extensive than already solved. First, we had to figure out how to collect in one database all the resources of World Wide Web ( World Wide Web ), to make them accessible to the processing of search engine PageRank, and secondly, where to get the computing power necessary for the placement and handling of this enormous amount of information.
And the two began to produce computers for the project by all means, begging them to have friends around the campus and upholstery skirts Stanford cargo handling depots, hoping to borrow someone ordered something, but do not demand drives. As a result, by 1996 the first version of Google was installed on a web server at Stanford and became available for internal use at www. google. stanford. edu.

Search engine came to taste university users, and the result is the brainchild of two doctoral students has become an unbearable burden for the network at Stanford. They, for their part, too, have outgrown the possibility of Stanford University to provide them with computer equipment, which required more and more as the number of daily queries just off scale. After a year with little Page and Brin have been forced to withdraw its search engine from the servers at Stanford, as he held up too much space. And in 1997 they registered the domain name www. google. com.
Meanwhile, demand for new equipment was made more acute. With no seed capital, and even money for the purchase of new machines, they collected computers from cheap parts that are hunted wherever possible. To solve the problem of increasing disk space to store large databases, they are united they collected PCs in one network. So in their possession were terabytes of disk space, but since their equipment will not fit in a modest auditorium № 360, they had to relocate to a room on campus, Larry. She was their first computer center. ...

The desire to Larry and Sergey to circumvent the need for a fast server on a ... They were gathered in haste system proved to be much easier to repair and modify. ...
Venture investor and Google board member John Doerr calls used by the approach to processing information ... And the machines are connected in such a way that one failure does not incapacitate the entire system. She simply bypasses the gamy computer, and the processing of requests is not broken.

At first they intended to sell the Google venture firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield. Among those who have rejected their offer, not making out the commercial potential of Google, were such well-known companies such as AltaVista, Excite and Infoseek deceased. Subsequently, they are certainly a hundred times regretted his rash refusal, but then showed firmness, greatly disappointed, Larry and Sergey. Google to sell at first they could not.
So they are faced with a seemingly unsolvable problem. The unique features of their offspring, they did not doubt, but here's the rub: in what was then the computer industry, where they want their way, there is little value attached to the Internet searching for the most part it is not considered an important tool of the web.
Then they turned to one of the founders of Yahoo!, David Filo, who immediately appreciated the extensive capabilities of technology that have come up with Larry and Sergey, but it is not interested in buying, advising to build a Google-based own business, in other words, following the example of Philo himself and his . ...

Alas, this is not Larry and Sergey to expect from David Filo, but his advice still gave them encouragement. Philo has sent their thoughts in the right direction. It is now no doubt that the bitter disappointment of failure, which suffered the guys trying to sell his creation, was the greatest gift of fate that determined their future life.
... - It could in fact happen, that someone would be interested in their technology and bought it - and that's all, and would have ended ...

... - Venture capitalists are struggling then threatened us with tales about the fact that eighty percent of all startups fail, what Larry reasonably argued that the majority of them - restaurants ».
And yet, at least to start a business alone was scary, guys come to the aid of a strong belief in the success of Larry - and all of his laudable self-confidence of the entire force made itself felt at the dawn of an exciting company. Scientific Adviser, Professor Larry grapes was already felt that his wards in a product with good commercial potential, and was convinced that they should leave the campus of Stanford and start their own business according to the rules, as it should be in business. But in order to create a real company, Sergey and Larry still had no money. ...

According to Ruth Kedar (who came up with a logo design Google), when the boys approached her, she immediately felt a sense of purpose in them, a clear vision and optimism. ... They also [ have in mind Page and Brin ], it was not in sight. They are without a moment's doubt that they have in the hands of something absolutely valuable ...
On the home page of Google, says that, although at first things went awry, the company started to work in the late 1990s. ... - From what was initially just a university research project, has grown this company, which offers users a service that is in great demand. So, September 21, 1999 the logo of our site Google. com got rid of the prefix ...
